UPDATED: Screwdriver-Wielding Robbery Suspect Arrested In Aiken

According to David Turno, the Aiken Department of Public Safety is looking for a man who they say robbed the B.P./Kangaroo Express store located at 1850 Whiskey Road, around 5:50 a.m., Tuesday morning. A store employee stated the suspect entered the store, put a screwdriver to her throat and demanded the money from the register. The victim gave an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect and he then fled the area on foot. UPDATE: According to Lt. David Turno, the Aiken Department of Public Safety has 26-year-old Shaun Andrew Benson in an armed robbery at the B.P./Kangaroo Express store located at 1825 Whiskey Road, in Aiken.

Aiken, SC—According to Lt. David Turno, the Aiken Department of Public Safety has arrested a suspect in an armed robbery at the B.P./Kangaroo Express store located at 1825 Whiskey Road, in Aiken.

Shaun Andrew Benson, 26, of Thomson, Georgia has been arrested for holding up the store while brandishing a screwdriver.

Benson’s father, notified authorities Tuesday night of his son’s involvement after seeing his son’s picture in connection with the armed robbery in Aiken, on Tuesday morning. Benson’s father made arrangements for his son to turn himself over to authorities Wednesday morning at Aiken Department of Public Safety headquarters, on Laurens Street, in Aiken.

Benson has been charged with Armed Robbery and is currently being held in the Aiken County Detention Center.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a black pullover sweat shirt with what appeared to be Carolina on the front.

The suspect was also wearing blue jeans and black round sunglasses. The suspect was approximately 6’ tall, around 225 pounds, with some facial hair and short thick black hair.

The suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot toward Advanced Auto Parts by a witness.
