CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man has been arrested and charged with keeping bomb-making materials in his Charleston home.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that 46-year-old Chester Eugene Pilcher was charged by sheriff’s deputies Thursday with possession of parts and materials to make destructive devices.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin McDonald says agents obtained a search warrant and searched the home. Federal, state and local authorities used a remote controlled robot to enter Pilcher’s home.
The newspaper reported that an affidavit states that Pilcher on Monday sold a confidential federal source five grenade detonating fuses and other material that can be used to build a destructive device
Pilcher was being held on a $1 million bond. It was unclear Friday if he had an attorney.
