SC Inmate Walks Away From Work Assignment
According to Josh Gellinas, with the S.C Department of Corrections, a minimum security inmate walked away from his work assignment at a farming facility in Greenville, S.C., on Tuesday. Joe Dean Bellis was confirmed missing from Columbia Farms at 1354 Rutherford Road, about 10:20 a.m. Bellis is serving a four-year sentence for grand larceny at the minimum security Livesay Correctional Institution, in Spartanburg, S.C.
COLUMBIA (Oct. 28, 2008) - According to Josh Gellinas, with the S.C Department of Corrections, a minimum security inmate walked away from his work assignment at a farming facility in Greenville, S.C., on Tuesday.
Joe Dean Bellis was confirmed missing from Columbia Farms at 1354 Rutherford Road, about 10:20 a.m. Bellis is serving a four-year sentence for grand larceny at the minimum security Livesay Correctional Institution, in Spartanburg, S.C.
Bellis, 39, was last seen wearing a gray hooded jacket, white T-shirt and blue jeans. He is white, stands 5 feet 10 inches tall, has brown hair and weighs about 170 pounds.
Between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., anyone with information about Bellis is asked to call the S.C. Department of Corrections’ Fugitive Apprehension Unit at 1-877-349-2130. After 5 p.m., call 1-803-896-2258, the S.C. Law Enforcement Division at 1-803-737-9000 or contact local law enforcement.
Bellis committed his crime in Greenville County and started serving his sentence 9/25/2007. His projected release date was 10/4/2009.
He faces a felony escape charge and an additional one to 15 years in prison.
