Richmond County Indecent Exposure Suspect Arrested
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested David Lee Pinkston, 35, on Public Indecency charges, and is asking the public to let them know if they have witnessed Pinkston committing similar crimes.
Augusta, GA—According to Lt. Scott Peebles, Tuesday, at about 1:00 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) was called to the Books-A-Million store, located at 2834 Washington Road.
Employees of the business spotted a man who had been seen in the same store, on Sept. 9th, 2008, exposing himself and masturbating between book isles. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving, in September.
Tuesday, when officers arrived, the suspect, later identified as David Lee Pinkston, 35, of the 2500 block of Shalimar Drive, in Augusta, fled on foot, but was apprehended.
Upon his arrest, it was discovered that Pinkston was also wanted by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of Public Indecency. Pinkston was arrested and committed to the Richmond County Jail, on one count of Public Indecency, in connection with the September 9th, 2008 incident. No one saw Pinkston expose himself on Tuesday, and there is no evidence to suggest he was.
Pinkston already has one conviction for Public Indecency, in Richmond County, on April 24th, 2006. Due to the likelihood of repeat offenses by sexual offenders, RCSO believes that Pinkston may have exposed himself in public, on many occasions, which were not reported to law enforcement. To that end, they are asking that anyone who may have been a victim of a similar incident take a look at the photo of Pinkston. If anyone believes they may have been a witness or victim to Pinkston’s actions, they are asked to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Pinkston’s vehicle is a 1995 white 4-door Ford Taurus bearing a paper tag.
