Murder Suspect In Custody In Blackville, SC

One person is in custody following a shooting in Blackville, South Carolina. Demetrius Smalls is charged with murder in the death of Terrance Mayes. Mayes brother, Zantrell, was also shot, and is currently at MCG.

Blackville, SC—One person is in custody today following a shooting in Blackville, South Carolina.

Demetrius Smalls is charged with murder in the death of Terrance Mayes. 

The shooting happened on the 4800 block of Legion Road, shortly after 6:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Mayes’ brother Zantrell also was shot. He was taken to the Medical College of Georgia hospital. There is no word, at this time, on his condition.

According to the Blackville Police chief, there was some type of physical altercation between the young men prior to the deadly shooting.

It is the second murder in Blackville, South Carolina this year.
