Juvenile Carjacking Suspects Arrested In Richmond County

According to Investigator Kendall Brown, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two juveniles in a carjacking case.

Augusta, GA—According to Investigator Kendall Brown, the richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two juveniles in a carjacking case.

According to investigators, on Thursday morning, at 12:13 a.m., the victim exited the Wal-Mart, located at 3209 Deans Bridge Road, after shopping and entered his 2006 Buick Rendezvous. The victim says that as he sat in his vehicle inside the Wal-Mart parking lot, two unknown black male juveniles walked up and knocked on his driver side window. The juveniles asked for a ride to Glenn Hills Middle School to meet their parents.

The victim agreed to give the juveniles a ride due to it raining very heavily, and the fact the subjects were so young. The juveniles directed the victim to Glenn Hills Middle School parking lot, located at 2941 Glenn Hills Drive. The juveniles attempted to get the victim to drive around to the back of the school, however the victim refused. The victim told the juveniles to exit his vehicle and wait for their parents. The juveniles them produced silver and black handguns and forced the victim from his vehicle. The juveniles then fled the scene with the victim maroon 2006 Buick Rendezvous.

The victim reacted quickly and called his wife who then called ONSTAR and reported their vehicle stolen,. the victim then contacted deputies who responded quickly. While deputies were on the scene, ONSTAR contacted dispatchers with the vehicle’s location. Within 10 minutes of the hijacking of the motor vehicle, deputies responded to the Hyde Park area with updated directions being provided by ONSTAR.

Deputies quickly caught up with the vehicle, which was being driven by the suspects. Both suspects were apprehended with a silver and black BB gun. It was found that one the carjacking suspects were 13-years-old, and the other suspect 16-years-old. Both suspects were charged with Hijacking of a Motor Vehicle. The 13-year-old suspect was also charged with Battery for shooting a 9-year-old in the head with a BB gun, on Wednesday.
