Jefferson County Man Arrested For Murder

Jefferson County, GA—WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that, on Thursday evening, August 6th, 2009 at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested 23 year-old Eddie Williams, Jr. without incident at his residence on Hudson Road, near Wadley, Georgia for the murder of his 52-year-old mother, Janice Williams, on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009.

Janice Williams was discovered at her home on Hudson Road suffering from head injuries, just before noon, on Tuesday, by her husband and daughter. She succumbed to her injuries just before midnight, the same day, while being treated at an Augusta, Georgia hospital. An autopsy was performed at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Laboratory in Augusta, Georgia on Wednesday, which revealed that Mrs. Williams died from massive head trauma. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked non-stop obtaining evidence leading to the arrest of Eddie Williams, Jr. for the crime of murder.

Eddie Williams, Jr. is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail awaiting a first appearance hearing which has not yet been set.
