Inmate Stabbed To Death In SC Prison

BISHOPVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a 29-year-old inmate at a maximum security prison east of Columbia.

Prison officials said that Lenmont Jones was stabbed by another inmate in a dorm at the Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville late Sunday morning. Jones was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead about an hour later.

Inmates were being kept in their cells during the investigation.

Jones started serving a 20-year sentence last February for a criminal sexual conduct with a minor conviction from Richland County.

No arrests have been reported.
