(Burke County, Georgia)  - Phyllis Walker was one of the last people to see her former neighbor alive. Sunday night she says she picked up her friend Jane Baggi from a Waynesboro park after Baggi said her husband left her at the local Wal-Mart. Walker brought Baggi to her home on Susie Bailey Road.

Walker says when she got their Brian Baggi was in his 18 wheeler warming up the engine. She explained what happened next.

Phylis Walker: “She (Jane) stood in front of the truck and he wanting her to move at that time she didn’t move. All of a sudden he kind of rigged it up and she went around on the side and jumped up on his side on the rig and about that time he mashed the gas and went on out the driveway over here and as he was turning I don’t see how in the world he didn’t turn the truck over but as he turned I don’t know whether she fell off of it or what happened.”

Walker says as she was pulling out of the driveway, Jane Baggi was laying on the side of the road. She called 911. Baggi later died at the hospital from her injuries.

Walker says she believes it was an accident. But investigators have charged Brian Baggi with vehicular homicide in the first degree.

Sergeant Dan Lowe says the couple had an argument at Wal-mart, he says once they got home Baggi’s wife tried to stop him by standing in front of the truck and then moved to the side of it.

Sgt. Lowe:  “From the point where the tractor trailer was parked to where she was found we believe she possibly had attempted to run alongside the vehicle to get in front of him at one point when she was struck by the vehicle and then run over.”
