Aiken Electric Co-Op Theft Suspect Wanted
According to Sgt. Dave Myers, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is asking for help from the public to to identify an individual who broke into and stole cooper wire from the Aiken Electric CO-OP.
Aiken, S.C., September 17, 2009—According to Sgt. Dave Myers, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is asking for help from the public to to identify an individual who broke into and stole cooper wire from the Aiken Electric CO-OP.
On September 1, 2009 the individual pictured entered the Aiken Electric CO-OP facility, by cutting the fence around the yard located at 462 Carolina Bay Trail, in Monetta, SC and took from the high and low side switching gears, 150 feet of cooper wiring. The value to replace and restore service due to the theft is approximately $2,500.00.
Aiken Electric CO-OP has reported three other incidents similar to the one at the Monetta facility, with the method of entry and theft identical to the Monetta incident. Aiken Electric CO-OP estimates that the total damages and repairs to be close to $10,000.00. Aiken Electric CO-OP states that a break in and theft similar to these incidents, could shut down a sub station which would effect thousands of residents in Aiken County.
