Aiken County Teacher Arrested for Criminal Sexual Conduct With a Minor

According to Sgt. Dave Myers, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Aiken County middle school teacher concerning Lewd Act and Criminal Sexual Conduct with a minor. Tammy Joy Key, 38, of Cottage Street, in Graniteville, South Carolina is charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor (4 counts), and Lewd Act on a Minor (4 counts).

Aiken, S.C., October 20, 2009—According to Sgt. Dave Myers, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Aiken County middle school teacher concerning Lewd Act and Criminal Sexual Conduct with a minor.

Tammy Joy Key, 38, of Cottage Street, in Graniteville, South Carolina is charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor (4 counts), and Lewd Act on a Minor (4 counts).

Aiken County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Investigators discovered between the months of August 2005 and March of 2006, that Key did commit criminal sexual conduct and lewd acts on a minor, a 14-year-old male victim, while at her Graniteville home. In addition, Juvenile Investigators also discovered that Key, an Aiken County middle school teacher, did between the months of August 2005 and September 2005 commit a lewd act on a minor, a 14-year-old male victim, while at her work place, Leavelle McCampbell Middle School, located in Graniteville, South Carolina.

Tammy Joy Key is being held in the Aiken County Detention Center.

Sgt. Dave Myers, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office: “Anytime you have a juvenille victim, you take it seriously. Juvenille investigators are going to dig, they’re going to find out what happened, and they’re going to carry it out, because you want to be able to find a solution for the victim, and have things rectified.“

Aiken County school officials tell us key is on administrative leave, but is still employed with the school system.

Is she “ALLEGED” to have done this? Or has she admitted it? Please clarify. Even so, doesn’t it have to be proven in a court of law?
