Aiken County authorities are searching for a suspect after a murder in North Augusta. UPDATE: The shooting victim has been identified as Paul Joseph Lirley, of Aiken, S.C. Lirley’s death is being considered a homicide investigation, and is being investigated as such by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. UPDATE: Two men have been identified as suspects in Lirley’s death: Robert Lee Smith II, 18, of the 100 block of Shannon Lane, in Aiken, S.C., Vincent Marlous Manning, 33, of the 1200 block of Weston Drive, in North Augusta, S.C. UPDATE: Robert Lee Smith II has been arrested in Richmond County. UPDATE: Authorities are now looking for 16-year-old David Lee Johnson.

Wanted Juvenile Surrenders to ACSO Authorities
Aiken, S.C., December 14, 2009—According to Sgt. Dave Myers, Monday morning, at approximately 11:00 a.m., David Lee Johnson, a juvenile wanted in connection with the November 23, 2009 homicide that occurred in North Augusta, turned himself into Aiken County Sheriff’s Office authorities.
David Lee Johnson, 16, of the 1900 block of Seaborn Drive, in North Augusta, S.C. is charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder. Although a juvenile, David Lee Johnson is being charged as an adult.
Monday, November 23, 2009 Aiken County Sheriff’s Office Investigators responded to a shooting incident on the corner of Weston Drive. and Crestlyn Dr. in North Augusta, S.C., where an Aiken, S.C. man, identified as Paul Lirley, was found shot to death. During the on going homicide investigation of Mr. Lirley, ACSO Investigators discovered that David Lee Johnson was an accessory after the fact to murder.
This is the second of three subjects that ACSO Investigators have been able to arrest associated with the homicide. The third subject Vincent Marlous Manning, 33, of the 1200 block of Weston Street, in North Augusta, S.C., is still at large, and is wanted for Murder, Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.
David Lee Johnson is now being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, S.C.

David Lee Johnson, 16, of the 1900 block of Seaborn Drive, in North Augusta, S.C. is wanted for Accessory After the Fact to Murder.
Although a juvenile, David Lee Johnson is being charged as an adult.
One subject, has been apprehended in connection with the homicide, Robert Lee Smith II is charged with Murder, Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime and Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.
Along with David lee Johnson, one more subject is being sought in connection with the homicide of Paul Lirley.
Vincent Marlous Manning, 33, of the 1200 block of Weston Street, in North Augusta, S.C. is wanted for Murder, Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.

North Augusta Homicide Suspect Captured, Another Still Wanted
Aiken, S.C., December 02, 2009—According to Sgt. Dave Myers, in coordination with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office was able to capture an Aiken man wanted in connection with a homicide that took place in North Augusta early last week.
Robert Lee Smith II, 18, of the 100 block of Shannon Lane, in Aiken, S.C. is charged with Murder, Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime and Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.
Within an hour of an Aiken County Sheriff’s Office news release, on Wednesday, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office Investigators received a tip as to the whereabouts of Robert Lee Smith II, wanted for the murder of Paul Lirley, which occurred on November 23rd, 2009.
The tipster gave Aiken County Investigators a location in Richmond County where Mr. Smith was located. Aiken County Investigators notified Richmond County Sheriff’s Office of the location; at which time RCSO followed up on the tip, and was able locate Mr. Smith placing him in custody for the Aiken County Sheriffs Office.
Sheriff Michael Hunt stated, “Due to our Investigators persistence in developing a suspect, the Solicitors’ Office assistance spending many hours with ACSO Investigators on follow up, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office willingness to follow up on our tip, which led to the capture of this suspect, shows citizens that this kind of violent act will not be tolerated in Aiken County.”
Robert Lee Smith II is in the custody of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office pending extradition to Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

ACSO Investigates Death of Aiken Man
Aiken, S.C., November 24, 2009—According to Sgt. Dave Myers, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Offie is investigating a shooting death that occurred in north Augusta on Monday evening.
On Monday evening, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office Investigators responded to a shooting incident on the corner of Weston Drive and Crestlyn Drive, in North Augusta, S.C., that left an Aiken man dead.
The shooting victim has been identified as Paul Joseph Lirley, of Aiken, S.C. Lirley’s death is being considered a homicide investigation, and is being investigated as such by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
There are no other details for comment concerning the investigation at this time.

North Augusta, SC - Aiken County authorities are searching for a suspect after a murder in North Augusta.
It happened around 7 p.m. Monday night near Crestlyn Drive and Weston Drive.
The Aiken County Coroner, Tim Carlton, says 35-year-old Paul Joseph Lirley, of Marvin Drive, in Aiken, South Carolina was shot and killed.
Officials say it looks like a drug deal gone bad.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, in Newberry, SC to determine an exact cause of death. The manner of death is homicide.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
