4 Officers Killed In Washington, No Suspect Caught
A shocking story out of the northwest…4-police officers gunned down in a Tacoma, Washington suburb just as they were starting work. ABC’s Brad Wheelis Reports.
Tacoma, Washington—-
The ambush happened in Parkland, about 40 miles south of Seattle.
Ed Troy, Pierce County, WA Sheriff’s Spokesman: “This was targeted, this was more of an execution, walked in with the specific mind of shooting police officers.“
The four officers of the Lakewood Police Department sat in a coffee shop, wearing armored vests.
Troy: “All of the officers were in uniform and had marked patrol cars outside. They were getting ready to start shift. And they met there, their computers were open and they were actually doing work inside, when the gunman came in and specifically targeted and fired upon the four Lakewood police officers.“
Dozens of officers fanned out immediately after the cold-blooded execution style shootings and erected road blocks to catch the killer.
Troy: “At this point we believe it’s one gunman but we are not ruling out that there are other people involved.“
A massive manhunt is still underway.
David Gabrielson, Convenience Store Clerk: “They had a canine unit on the scene looking for the perpetrator. I don’t know if they actually found a trail or not.“
The mass execution outraged law enforcement officers.
Paul Pastor, Pierce County Sheriff: “We lost people that we care about, we lost people I am sure that the good people in the community care about as well. We are working to find out who did this as rapidly as possible and deal with it.“
