UNDATED—The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling about 400,000 “drop side” cribs from cribmaker Simplicity, because of the risk for suffocation or entrapment.
The crib’s hardware can break or deform, allowing the drop side to detach. This creates a gap between the mattress and the side of the crib, and that’s where a small child could be trapped or suffocated.
The cribs were sold in department stores, children’s stores, and mass merchandisers nationwide, from January 2005 through last month.
For more information on this recall, visit the CPSC website, or call the CPSC at 800-638-2772.
