COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The cost of electricity is going up in South Carolina.
State utility regulators agreed yesterday to allow South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. to implement a midyear rate increase.
The agreement allows SCE&G to charge customers an additional 6 percent to cover its increased costs for the coal and natural gas it uses to generate electricity. That was half the increase the
company initially requested.
Officials say the typical residential customer would be charged about $6 more each month.
