UNDATED—Smokers are urged to quit for the sake of their pets.

Studies show secondhand smoke is just as dangerous to animals as it is to humans.

New findings also show that nearly 30 percent of pets live with at least one smoker.

In order to better protect all pets, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) recommends that smokers “take it outside” if they need to light up.
