CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - A Clemson University student from New Jersey who died last week had a form of meningitis.

Multiple media outlets report that Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelly said Thursday that lab tests show 20-year-old Danielle Rae Fleming had bacterial meningitis.

Kelly says it will still take six to eight weeks to get autopsy results that will determine what killed Fleming.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control says officials are investigating people who may have been in contact with Fleming to determine who may need preventative treatment.

Fleming was a rising junior studying mathematical sciences from Glen Ridge, N.J. She had been staying at a local hotel with her family and died Saturday at a hospital.

Funeral services are this weekend.
