Viewership Down For First Episode Of “American Idol”

A whole lot of people watched the first round of auditions for Fox's "American Idol," but not as many as last year. Tuesday's debut was seen by an estimated 33.4 million viewers, down 11 percent from the first episode in 2007, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Nurmi was TV's "Vampira," wearing dark mascara, blood-red lipstick and a revealing black dress as she introduced such films as "Revenge of the Zombies" and "Devil Bat's Daughter."

Now, the company is trying to set things up so that even that trip will seem too far. Netflix will start delivering movies and other programming directly to televisions later this year.
