Pet owners with aggressive animals, better beware, if they plan to move into Sumner, Washington. The headline today requires police background check to own a dog in the City. The proposed ordinance will only apply to people moving there or people that need a pet license renewal.

Moving to one town means you need a permit for your pooch. is it going too far???...you decide.
A Councilman in Sumner, Washington is proposing a system to keep out dangerous dogs.
The ordinance would require pet owners who move into the city to list whether they have an aggressive dog. But that checked box could lead to a background check.
Scott Hinckley, a dog owner, says: “I don’t think city should control what type of dog you have, I understand to protect public, but I’ve lived here my whole life and never seen a dangerous dog,“ and Councilman Richardson says, “Well, I thought headline was off from what we wanted to communicate to the public.“
Under the proposed ordinance, owners of potentially dangerous dogs would pay 250 dollars for a permit… that doubles for a dangerous dog.
