Is There A Ghost In The Anderson, SC City Hall?

Anderson, SC—Rob Colbert was working late…when he saw…something…out of the corner of his eye.

Rob Colbert, secuity guard: “So, I stopped talking and I went back, and checked it, and when I saw it I said, hmm!“

Movement…on the surveillance camera in the credit union office…when no one was there. So, he took a closer look.

Colbert: “Just like a little ghostly figure, walking around.“

It’s a white blur…looks like saunters over to a chair…sits down…and disappears. It could have been anything…but it kept coming back.

Colbert: “So, I’ll show you the very last one.“

IT Director Mark Cunningham oversees the surveillance systems for the Municipal Business Center. He checked the cameras…and found nothing out of order.

Mark Cunningham, IT Director: “Like I said, we really have no idea, what it could be.“

John Eby, reporting: “Immediately, they tried to come up with explanations of what it might be. They tried closing the blinds, thinking that it might be a reflection from outside. But, instead of disappearing, it showed up…again. In fact…with the blinds closed…it looks even clearer than before. Another explanation they considered was a bug on the lens…but even after they cleaned and sealed the camera cover…it came back. And, even if it is an insect…it seems to only come around in this office.“

Cunningham: “I’ve checked the tax office, the business license, community development, um, even the basement.“

City employees say it doesn’t cause any trouble…

Frances Parham, city employee: “If it is a ghost, maybe it’s ‘Casper the Friendly Ghost.‘“

They’ve even given it a name…Claire.

Eby: “Where did you come up with the name Claire?“

Parham: “Clairvoyant.“

And ‘Claire the Friendly Ghost’...has turned at least one skeptic…into a believer.

Parham: “I’d have to say it’s some kind of an entity of some sort. But I’m not sure to this day exactly what it is, but there’s something.“
