AIKEN, S.C. (AP) - Attorneys involved in the lengthy battle over the estate of the late soul singer James Brown are in a South Carolina court.
The hearing Thursday in Aiken involves various claims against Brown’s estate. And it appears that a planned settlement agreement will not be filed with the court because of some claims.
The agreement would give Brown’s children the first right to purchase his Beech Island home at the value it was appraised by the Aiken County assessor’s office.
The parties to the settlement also have agreed to create a museum or some other memorial to house Brown’s remains.
Brown died on Christmas Day in 2006. The value of his estate has not been made public.
