TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - A 53-year-old Appling, Georgia man, Mark McLeod, charged with attempting to stalk Miley Cyrus is due back in court on Tybee Island, where the teenage “Hannah Montana” star recently finished filming her latest movie.
Police say Mark McLeod told them he was secretly engaged to marry 16-year-old Cyrus when he was arrested in June after trying to breech a security perimeter around the movie set. McLeod returned to look for Cyrus on Aug. 4, police say, and was charged with attempted stalking, a misdemeanor.
A judge delayed a hearing in the case last week because police weren’t ready to reveal results of a search of McLeod’s home in Appling.
McLeod’s attorney, James Byrne, has said people should not jump to conclusions that McLeod is dangerous.
