Aiken, SC—Two Aiken Department of Public Safety (ADPS) Officers are heading off to greener pastures…literally, for one of them.
Kojak, the one on four legs, and Lieutenant Donald Butler have patroled together for years. Lt. Butler has been with ADPS for 33 years, and he got Kojak to sign up about 9 years ago. The two have been inseparable in their police work, and they did one final task together, as a team…they retired.
Lt. Donald Butler, ADPS: “We’re both going home to be turned out to the pasture, I guess, but Kojak has been a real loyal horse, for nine years, and we really bonded and did a lot of things together.“
The two won’t be too far away from each other. Kojak lives in Lt. Butler’s backyard, so they may still ride, he says…just a little later in the day than usual.
