NEW YORK (AP) - Think “American Idol” meets the Internet.

YouTube has developed a plan to create a symphony orchestra, by harnessing the power of the online video sharing site. Musicians who go to the site between now and January 28th can submit entries to earn a spot on the YouTube Symphony Orchestra.

One clip would be a video of their musical talents and the second, an interpretation of an original work by Tan Dun, who won an Oscar for “Crouching
Tiger, Hidden Dragon.“ The number of hopefuls will be winnowed down by a panel of experts from some of the world’s leading orchestras.

YouTube users will then vote for the winners, who will be announced on March 2nd.
