Search Continues For Escaped Burke County Inmate
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office needs assistance from the public in locating a inmate, which was a trustee, that walked away from a work detail Tuesday morning. The inmate, 44-year-old Jerry Lee Jones, who is 5’9” tall, weighing 135 lbs., was last wearing a white shirt and pants with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office on the back of the shirt.
Burke County, GA—The Burke County Sheriff’s Office needs assistance from the public in locating a inmate, which was a trustee, that walked away from a work detail Tuesday morning. The inmate, 44-year-old Jerry Lee Jones, who is 5’9” tall, weighing 135 lbs., was last wearing a white shirt and pants with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office on the back of the shirt.
Jones was arrested on July 26, 2008 on the charges of Theft by bringing stolen property into the state (motor vehicle), Terroristic Threats and Acts, Obstructing or Hindering a Law enforcement officer (2 counts), D.U.I, Giving false name to law enforcement officer, no state drivers license and unlawful use of license plate.
Jones was a trustee who did custodian work cleaning the Sheriff’s Office. He apparently walked away from the Sheriff’s Office between the times of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The directions he left walking is unknown at this time.
