Augusta, GA—Alisha McConnell, Augusta: “So they didn’t only steal material things, memories, they stole my kid’s sense of security, as well.“

Alisha McConnell and her family are in shock, a day after thieves broke into her home and stole Christmas gifts.

Alisha McConnell, Augusta: “They stole from my six-year-old son. What kind of person steals from a child?“

McConnell says she went to church, Wednesday night, and when she came back this is what she found…ripped gift paper, and no gifts.

Alisha McConnell, Augusta: “I worked hard for the things I got him. I saved money for me to be able to get him Christmas. He busted out in tears and he was just crying and he was like, ‘Momma, what I’m I going to have for Christmas?‘“

The crooks even stole McConnell’s laptop.

Alisha McConnell, Augusta: “The stuff in there, the picture of my kids, the videos of my kids.“

She also used it to write her papers and do research for class.

McConnell: “I’m a full-time nursing student and I can’t afford another laptop, taking care of the kids and paying bills, I’m barely able to pay the bills.”

Thieves even ransacked her bedroom. They took jewelry, scattered clothes across the room and threw trash on the ground. McConnell says she’s leaving everything just as she found it, because investigators will be finger printing the place. She says she hopes who ever did this gets caught.

McConnell: “The Bible says, ‘Praise the Lord in all things,‘ and that is what I’m really trying to do, and that’s what’s keeping me together so well.”
