Car Care Services Are Down
The Augusta area is no exception to the effects from the car industry. Some car sales are down and even car shops are struggling to maintain. Count on our Fraendy Clervaud, he has the story.

Martinez, GA—The unstable economy means drivers are taking fewer trips to the shop.
Talmadge Miles, Owner, Meineke Car Care: “We’ve noticed there was less miles traveled more than there was a year ago. So of cause with less miles traveled you have less service.“
Talmadge Miles is the owner of a local Meineke Car Care. He says more consumers are trying to save money and sometimes their cars can get the financial boot.
Talmadge Miles, Owner: “They put off purchases of tires which is a safety issue. It’s a big ticket item and with that they have to put those purchases on hold. Brakes a lot of times the customers want to do a patch instead of a repair and we strongly advise to do a safety repair on the braking system.“
His garage and parking lot are normally filled with cars but not these days. When we were at the shop Tuesday we only saw two customers roll in. He says some customers sometimes ignore a service check until it’s to late. Miles says things might look bad now but a new year is coming.
Talmadge Miles, Owner: “What we are going to end up seeing is probably in the first quarter of next year, a lot of repairs will need to be done then because they put them off so long and that is because we are driving older cars than we were three or four years ago.”
Some local car service centers tell us they are offering different specials to help customers out.
