Appling, GA—Officer Russell Swann, Columbia County Animal Control: “You know, I was just walking around, didn’t see anything, didn’t see anything. You know, was just looking for the dog, really wasn’t looking for anything special.“
I don’t know if you would call it special…but Columbia County Animal Control Officer Russell Swann….did find something…
Swann: “When I get about right here…right over there right beside that bush, right over here by the graves, there was two people laying on the blanket, naked.“
Yep, you heard him right…a guy and a girl, wearing nothing but their birthday suits, trying to avoid those tan lines in the cemetery behind Appling’s Rock Hill Baptist Church…a shock for both Swann and the naked tanners.
Swann: “They started throwing their clothes on real quick, so I turned around and started walking this way. and when I got back around the corner, that’s when I called Dispatch. They had a big picnic-sized blanket out and they were just sitting out here like it was no big deal.“
Swann: “I was kind of a little taken back by it. Yeah, it’s not a normal Animal Control call…you know, that’s a little different.“
Different…but a call that Swann says he’ll remember, as vivid as the scene he walked up on.
Swann: “Yeah, unfortunately it’s going to be stuck there for a little bit.“
They may not have gotten the tan they wanted, but the sunbathers were pretty lucky…officers only gave the couple a warning.
