Melissa Cave is stepping out in her high heel shoes.
“It's a little tricky, I’m definitely thinking I’m going to plan on staying on my toes,” she said.
Melissa didn't think she would make it, but she got online and entered the "Regis and Kelly ”High Heel-A-Thon”, and was selected.
On Wednesday, September 22nd she will be in New York competing against hundreds of other women in a 150-yard dash in high heels.
“I’ve been practicing, people in my neighborhood probably think I’m crazy right now I’ve been out there 5:30 in the morning, before I come to work,” she said.
Melissa lives in North Augusta but works as a Nurse Practitioner at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville, Georgia.
If she wins the $10,000 grand prize, she’s going to donate it the hospital.
“I have coached her a little bit, the most important thing is not to knock a heel off,” said her boss, Doctor James Polhill.
If Melissa is going to be ready for New Yor,k she needs a warm-up race.
Needless to say, I’m pumped up.
Donning a pair of borrowed heels, I took Melissa on in a five yard race. It wasn’t much of a contest...Melissa is fast in high fashion shoes.
"Competition is going to get tougher than this," I told her.
“Yes, I think so,”said the quick-in-her-kicks runner.
