Oklahoma City, OK -- This police dash cam video shows what is anything but a routine traffic stop...
According to Oklahoma State Trooper Daniel Martin, he pulled over an ambulance...after the driver failed to yield, and even made an obscene gesture.. a claim the driver denies.
Trooper Martin (screaming): "I'm gonna give you a ticket for failure to yield, and when I go by you, son, what's going on? You don't need to give me no hand gestures, now. I ain't gonna put up with that s---! Do you understand me?"
EMT: "And, I wont put up with you talking to my driver like that, sir."
Trooper Martin: "I aint listening to you, buddy, you get your a-- back in that ambulance, or I will take you in. I'm talking to the driver."
The argument between Martin and EMT Maurice White continues for almost five minutes...while a patient is still in the back of the ambulance...screaming.
White: "No, we got a patient in this"
Even the patient's family, who was following behind in a separate car, gets involved, and recorded the scuffle on a cell phone.
Gary James, Martin's attorney: "He's a good man. He's been in law enforcement for 15 years, and Highway Patrol for 2 years."
Martin himself was responding to an emergency call when he first passed the ambulance. Since the ambulance had no lights or sirens on, Martin expected the driver to yield. After Martin's call was canceled, a few minutes later, the ambulance passed him again.
James: "He was unsure when he went by, he gave them the benefit of a doubt. But, when they gave him the finger, he thought, that's intentional to allow me not to go by."
That never happened...according to both the driver...and the EMT. They say the trooper...was in the wrong.
White: "He was assaulting a paramedic in the act of carrying out his duties."
The ambulance was eventually allowed to proceed to the hospital, where the patient was treated and released. No criminal charges have been filed, yet, in the incident.
